The Housing Compliance & Enforcement Team are a citywide team based at Hammerstone Road in Gorton and are responsible for dealing with housing disrepair in the private rented sector and licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) and discretionary licensing schemes such as selective licensing. The team responds to service requests from tenants and undertakes projects to tackle inadequate and dangerous private rented housing across Manchester. The team carries out a range of regulatory roles in meeting its statutory duties designed to protect residents living in the private rented sector, ensuring private landlords and agents are meeting their legal obligations and take firm action against those landlords who flout the law or act irresponsibly.
Responsibilities
* Carry out essential compliance and administrative work in relation to HMO and selective licensing, including processing of licensing applications.
* Provide direct support to Housing Compliance Officers who respond to service requests and carry out programmed compliance inspections as part of council private rented sector licensing schemes.
* Work on proactive projects to tackle rogue landlords.
* Provide accurate, technical advice and guidance to landlords/agents on compliance with private rented property licensing schemes and statutory obligations under legislation, codes, best practice and policies.
Qualifications
* Good ICT & communication skills.
* Experience of SAP, Academy, REASON, Experian and Flare preferred.
* BPSS clearance required.
