Are you looking for a financial management role that is both exciting and challenging? If so, we at Cambridge University Hospitals are seeking just such a person to join our Finance team as a Management Accountant.

We seek talented and ambitious staff to improve a large diverse department working to exhibit the values of the Trust in serving the patients and population of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough region.

Main duties of the job

Key elements of the role:

Contributing to the production of financial reports in accordance with Trust procedures and timetables.

Budget statement reconciliation and analysis.

Investigating variances and making any necessary adjustments.

Identifying data processing errors and making corrective changes.

Manipulating income and expenditure data for forecasting and budget setting exercises.

Validation of new spend and involvement in business cases.

Active engagement with budget holders and other Trust colleagues is paramount to being successful in this position.

Due to Home Office immigration rules, a full time permanent vacancy cannot be filled by individuals on a Student visa. Therefore, please be advised that if you are a Student visa holder, we will not be able to offer you a full time permanent contract unless you have:

applied for a Graduate visa

or you will have successfully completed your course and have applied for a Graduate visa before the anticipated start date of your employment

or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipated start date of employment

Qualifications


Essential criteria

Educated to degree level, NVQ level 4 or equivalent

Equivalent professional experience


Desirable criteria

To be working towards an AAT qualification

To be working towards a CCAB qualification


Experience


Essential criteria

Experience of working in an accounting department, including in a specialist financial management role

Prioritisation, planning and organising own and others' tasks

Ability to work to deadlines


Desirable criteria

NHS or other public sector organisation experience


Knowledge


Essential criteria

Confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures

Good working knowledge of office procedures

Knowledge and understanding of Microsoft Office packages – in particular Microsoft Excel

Awareness of NHS targets and Trust priorities


Desirable criteria

Advanced Microsoft Excel formulae and macros


Skills


Essential criteria

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing

Ability to make use of the various sub-systems to prepare and present accurate and clear information

Record of delivering to tight deadlines and ability to prioritise workload

Advanced analytical skills with the ability to communicate clearly the results of such analysis

Ability to analyse and present complex and large data

Leadership skills

Ability to show attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to adapt to change
