Job Summary
This position is suitable for anyone looking to start a career in healthcare or alternatively someone who is looking to develop their career as a support worker. You will be part of the multi‑disciplinary team and have the ability to work flexibly and efficiently with good organisational skills that enable you to work on your own initiative contributing to the smooth running of a busy department. Your role will be to support and assist healthcare professionals such as nurses, doctors and other integrated professionals in the delivery of quality patient care and the general well‑being and comfort of patients. You also must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be reliable and work well in a team.
Responsibilities
* High quality, caring and compassionate personal care and associated duties under the direction and supervision of the registered professional.
* Support and assist registered professional under supervision in delivery of safe, effective, compassionate care to patients and their relatives.
* Carry out duties as specified within the Trust’s approved core task list for Clinical Support Workers/Health Care Assistants.
* Help prepare patients for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed.
* Maintain clinical area clean and tidy, adhering to infection control procedures.
* Chaperone or escort patients as needed and support relatives demonstrating compassion and empathy.
* Assist with discharge process for patients as directed.
* Accurately document all care delivered, countersigned by a registered professional, keeping confidentiality at all times.
* Report patient concerns or observed changes in condition to registered professional.
* Adhere to Trust’s IT policies, data protection, safeguarding, dress code, safety and infection control.
Qualifications
* Obtained an educational level of GCSE level A-C English and Maths or equivalent.
* Experience working as part of a team.
* Experience in delivering care and working in a healthcare or people centred environment (desirable).
* Able to work to agreed level of competency.
* Good written, verbal and non‑verbal communication skills.
* Competent IT skills.
* Able to present information, written and orally in an accurate clear and logical manner.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
* Ability to write accurately and legibly.
* Passes pre‑employment checks.
* Able to work flexibly over a 24 hour period.
* Able to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and carry out concurrent activities.
* Able, with appropriate support, to work in an emotionally demanding environment.
