Our team members work vigorously to meet our customers' needs. No two days are the same! Crofton is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join our team.
The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting Project Managers and other team members in coordinating project activities to ensure compliance with cost, schedule, document control, and quality standards. Under the direction of the PM, the Assistant Project Manager will undertake tasks throughout all project phases, from pre-construction to completion. Responsibilities include assisting in bid document preparation, providing written estimates based on labor, materials, equipment, and other expenses.
Duties / Responsibilities:
* Assist the Project Manager in managing projects from inception to completion.
* Set up projects in software programs such as Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and HCSS.
* Enter budgets, Schedule of Prices, and prepare invoice templates.
* Support field staff and subcontractors with access to facilities.
* Prepare and assist with pre-construction meetings and monthly owner meetings.
* Review owner contracts and familiarize with terms & conditions. Order Certificates of Insurance & Bonds.
* Distribute project schedules and ensure subcontractors have updated scopes of work.
* Assist in developing the overall project schedule.
* Obtain necessary permits as requested by the PM.
* Complete bid evaluations, scope reviews, and buyouts as needed.
* Develop and manage project submittal logs and secure designer approvals.
* Perform routine inspections, including climbing boom A-frames or tanks of barges if necessary.
* Travel to multiple work sites, including occasional overnight or weekend trips, or sleeping on a rig.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills / Abilities:
* Knowledge in accounting and construction.
* Strong mathematical skills with high accuracy.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and management software.
* Organized and detail-oriented.
* Ability to perform well in a high-paced environment.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
* Capability to multi-task and work independently.
* Strong spatial and situational awareness.
* Adaptable and calm under pressure.
Education/Experience:
* Experience with Fleet Cost & Care, Sage, and HCSS is a plus.
* 3-5 years in heavy marine construction or related field.
* A degree in construction management or cost accounting is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
* Ability to lift 40 pounds.
* Climb ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles.
* Exposure to construction and marine site hazards.
* Perform repetitive motions with hands and wrists.
* Operate machinery and power tools.
* Work in extreme weather conditions.
* Respond to dangerous situations visually and physically.
* Navigate all areas of the jobsite in various weather conditions, including walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, and stretching.
