Learning Support Assistant (Part-Time) - Tower Hamlets Primary School
Location: Tower Hamlets, East London
Schedule: Part-Time - 4 Days per Week (Monday to Thursday)
Role: Supporting a KS1 Pupil with ASD
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Ongoing (term-time only)
Pay: £85-£95 per day (depending on experience)
A welcoming and inclusive Tower Hamlets primary school is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis. This role involves working one-to-one with a Key Stage 1 student diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), providing both academic and emotional support within a mainstream classroom environment.
About the Learning Support Assistant Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping the student access learning, stay engaged with the curriculum, and develop key social and communication skills. Working under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo, your support will help create a positive and structured routine for the child.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to a KS1 pupil with ASD
2. Assist with structured tasks and learning activities set by the teacher
3. Encourage communication, interaction, and social development
4. Implement strategies to support behaviour, focus, and emotional regulation
5. Liaise with staff and parents/carers to share updates and progress
6. Promote inclusion and independence in and out of the classroom
We're Looking For a Learning Support Assistant Who:
7. Has experience working with children with ASD or additional needs (school or other setting)
8. Is patient, empathetic, and consistent in their approach
9. Can work collaboratively with teaching staff and SEN professionals
10. Brings a calm and positive attitude to each day
11. Is ideally available Monday to Thursday, during term time
