Role Responsibility

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Kent Youth Justice Service. We have three permanent, full-time Youth Justice Practitioner positions available in three different teams across Kent.These are area-based roles covering either West Kent (Maidstone, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and Sevenoaks), South Kent (Ashford, Dover and Folkestone) or East Kent (Thanet and Canterbury). You will be working with young people aged 10 18 years who have come into contact with the Criminal Justice System. Travel is essential to deliver our service, therefore, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.The purpose of your work will be to reduce the risk of reoffending in accordance with the agreed intervention plans and in the context of managing risk of harm to others and vulnerability issues. As a member of a multi-agency service, you will work in partnership to:

1. Complete assessments.
2. Complete reports for Court and panels.
3. Work directly with young people, and their families, with a diverse range of needs, to complete interventions as part of their statutory programme.

The role also includes regular attendance at Youth Justice team, and multi-agency, meetings for the purpose of prevention and risk management. You will be expected to be part of the services duty rota, attending Youth, Magistrates, and Crown Courts regularly.

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the Job Description/Person Specification.

This role is advertised both internally and externally, however secondments can be considered.
