Blue Wave Swim School is an award-winning boutique swim school based in Southwest London. Over the last 15 years, we have been providing private and semi-private lessons for all ages; from under 3's and pre-schoolers to school-aged children and also adults. we offer lessons to all swimming abilities; from beginners to advanced levels and follow Swim England NPTS (Stages 1-7) for our lessons. Our reputation in south-west London is for high-quality lessons and only use Commercial pools.

Swimming Teaching Roles for

We are looking for a reliable swim teacher who is able to teach private and semi-private swim lessons mainly to pre-schoolers and school aged children and able to committe to a regular reaching shift (3 hours) on Saturday afternoons (school term time).

Being able to teach adults and/or children with special needs, especially children on the Autism spectrum is a big bonus but not necessary.

Qualifications

1) The minimum requirement is to have a swim teaching qualification like The STA Award in Teaching Swimming or the level 1 Swim England Swimming Teaching qualification. Having STA Level 2 Certificate in Swimming Teaching or Swim England level 2 is desirable but not necessary.

If you are a qualified swim teacher/coach from another country with a valid qualification, we encourage you to apply.

2) Having a STA's Water safety Certificate or National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC) is a plus but,not necessary. But, you need to be willing to take a 1-2 day course to get this award.

Must be confident and prepared to teach in and out of the water and delivering lessons in line with Swim England standards. Understanding of SWIM ENGLAND stages system for progressing and the badges and certificates is important.

3) Have a valid DBS check in place or agreeing for us to apply for getting an up-to-date one.

4) You must have a legal permission to work in the U.K

Experience

Qualified teachers with previous teaching experience is prefered however, if you are a newly qualified teacher or just started teaching, please do apply. There are plenty of opportunities to be mentored by our more experienced teachers when working for us to get more confident with your teaching and communication skills.

Requirements of the role:

This role requires teaching on Saturday (mainly in afternoons) during school term time. There are no shifts currently for weekdays so, only apply if you can teach on Saturdays, please.

Being available and willing to teach intensive swimming courses during school holidays (half-term breaks and Easter and Summer) is a big bonus but, not necessary.

Who should apply:

This is a part-time post and suitable for those who are interested in teaching on Saturdays and/or school holidays from October 2025 onwards.

This role is a part-time role.

This role could be ideal for

i) swim teachers who are already teaching elsewhere and would like to build up more hours

ii) people who have another job but like to keep teaching swimming. it could be a good opportunity for people already in the education sector; PE teachers, nursery teachers or Teaching Assistants (TA) to gain more swimming teaching experience and be paid for it..

iii) College or university students who are interested in a well-paid and meaningful Saturday work.

When it starts:

Teaching can start from October 2025 and hours can be offered on Saturday afternoons during school term time in Wimbledon straight away.

Opportunity to teach in the mornings over school February and June half-term breaks, Easter, and summer holidays in 2024.

Other opportunities

Swim teachers can also join our admin team and take a part-time admin role to help with routine admin work.

We also sponsor our teachers to gain more qualifications.
