Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Salary: Up to £55,830 commensurate with skills and experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. You will provide support to the associated Combat System Technical Lead for the physical integration of the Combat Systems equipment, ensuring coherency across the Systems and incorporation of whole ship requirements
2. Ensure you assist Technical Leads with the production of, scheduled delivery, and maintenance of the suite of design information for the Combat Systems
3. This role will require you to assist with the production of design artefacts in support of Detail Designers to ensure that Combat Systems compartment layouts are viable and in line with design intent
4. Ensure that design rules for the physical integration of the Combat System equipment are adhered to, and assist with providing technical input to the Technical Authority when required
5. Engage with the Platform System Disciplines to ensure that platform system interfaces are understood and agreed with the customer
6. You will assist the Technical Lead in the production of estimates and schedules to support the Change Management Team
7. Provide support to resolution of technical issues through Installation, Setting to Work and Trials activities
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
8. STEM degree or equivalent, or demonstration of comparable suitable experience
9. Familiarisation with IT whole stack infrastructures, virtualisations and application layers
10. Understanding of System Engineering design Lifecycle
11. Comfortable dealing with technical change and uncertainty
12. Good communication skills, able to interpret technical reports and impact assessment data to help influence the technical solution
13. Comfortable working with multiple MS office and Engineering IT packages
Desirable:
14. Familiarisation of Defence and/ or Platforms involving complex integration challenges and operational environments
15. Systems Engineering experience

The Command and Information Systems team:
The Type 26 frigate is a class of anti-submarine warfare (ASW) warships being built for the Royal Navy. The Type 26 utilises Shared Infrastructure and cloud technology to host combat systems capability providing an open, secure and reliable environment. Working within the Command and Information Systems team, the successful applicant will be at the forefront of delivering technology refresh programmes that are designed to maintain the operational capabilities of the fleet.
