We are seeking
a Research Assistant to join the newly established research group led by. Dr Khan’s research develops and applies human organoid models to investigate the basic processes of blood and immune cell production, and how these mechanisms are disrupted in ageing and disease. You will support research projects in the lab and the role will provide an exciting opportunity to develop 3D biology skills in a translational context. Duties will also include the responsibility for general laboratory management and administration, including stock control of consumables, purchase ordering and arranging equipment maintenance. You will hold a first degree in a relevant area with experience in a life science laboratory or related discipline. A good understanding of basic molecular biology and relevant methods e.g. protein/RNA assays, with an ability to manage your own research and administrative activities is essential. Excellent communication skills, and experience of following protocols are also essential. Experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western Blotting, sequencing etc.) is desirable, as is experience in cell culture and bioinformatics skills. The post is available on a full-time basis and is fixed-term for 2 years, funded by the Wellcome.
