We
are looking for a senior technical leader to join us in COWI in the UK. Working on a variety of road, rail, water & utility infrastructure projects, you'll provide strategic technical leadership to our tunnels, heavy civils and underground structures engineers.
Your key responsibilities will be:

Senior t
echnical leadership of
our
established
team of
over 70
civil
and
structural
design
engineers
across the UK and Ireland
.
·
Working closely with our Senior Technical Leadership from other disciplines, particularly our ground engineering leaders.
·
Maximising business development
opportunities
through excellence in delivery and working with the leadership team to set the direction for the discipline
.
·
Technical o
versight and
direction to
UK and international tunnel and underground
structures projects. Working across multiple projects to guide our technical leaders, to
promote innovation, to
maintain
best practice, and to
continue COWI's legacy of
solv
ing
complex engineering problems
in tunnelling and heavy civils.

Overseeing
the
development of conceptual designs and setting the direction of the project
, working with clients and stakeholders to
identify
solutions to complex challenges.
·
Working alongside our
wider
l
eadership
team
to d
evelop
strategies around training and development of staff, links with industrial bodies, and though
t
leadership
.
·
Approval of
complex
designs,
assessments
and calculations
in accordance with
quality procedures
, current industry guidance and codes of practice
to achieve safety by design
.
·
Introduction of innovative solutions to meet carbon reduction goals, and digital design solutions.
·
Supervising coordination of work undertaken by external sub-contractors and design checkers.
·
Contribution to
bids and tenders
.
·
Attending client meetings and building relationships with clients and other stakeholders.

As a technical leader you contribute to this direction, alongside senior
project
and people leaders.
You lead by example in delivering excellence and building an open and safe
culture to nurture our high-performing teams.
On top of that,
you'll have:
·
Achieved Chartered Engineer
or equivalent status with a relevant Institution (e.g. MICE or
MIStructE
or similar international institution), and have achieved, or be working towards, Fellowship.
·
Demonstrable relevant UK
and/or international
civil engineering design
and leadership
experience, with
experience
in below ground structures and tunnelling.
·
A high level
of technical skills, knowledge and experience of relevant industry standards
, best practice and current technical strategy and developments
.
·
A sound understanding and experience in the
construction of underground structures and
tunnelling techniques to drive safe, economically buildable designs
.
·
Good communication
skills.
