* Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ3 or equivalent mechanical / industrial qualification
* ONC or equivalent
* Experience in a multi-disciplined industrial engineering function

Overview
Mechanical Technician role supports high-speed packaging line maintenance. Key purpose is to improve reliability, safety, and cost of the plant.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Technician will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on high‑speed packaging lines and support production and utilities areas. Core duties include:
* Plan and execute preventive maintenance (SAP)
* Diagnose and repair machinery faults
* Analyse machine performance and identify critical spares
* Develop and update SOPs, OPLs, and job tasks
* Share best practice across shifts and support continuous improvement
* Work safely following company policies and procedures
* Support maintenance cost control and tool management
* Perform work at heights, confined space, lone worker tasks as required
Key Skills and Competencies
* Proactive and self‑managed with a can‑do attitude
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Knowledge of HACCP, food safety protocols, and VPO compliance
* Capacity to work under own initiative and prioritise workload
* Understanding of continuous improvement, PDCA
* IT literacy and numerical analysis skills
