Job Title: Assistant Headteacher – Therapeutic SEND/SEMH All-Through School
Location: Essex, Chelmsford
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £50,000 – £63,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity to join a therapeutic SEND/SEMH all-through school for pupils aged 5-16. Our integrated approach ensures teachers and therapists work as one team, placing pupil wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role:
As Assistant Headteacher, you will:
1. Provide strategic and operational leadership across the school
2. Support the Headteacher in driving a therapeutic, inclusive, and trauma-informed culture
3. Model outstanding practice in supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND needs
4. Lead and inspire staff in delivering high-quality teaching and therapeutic support
5. Collaborate closely with therapists, teachers, families, and external agencies
6. Promote a safe, nurturing environment that enables all pupils to flourish
7. Play a key role in whole-school development and continuous improvement
Requirements:
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
9. Senior leadership experience, ideally in a SEMH or therapeutic setting
10. Proven track record of supporting pupils with SEMH and SEND needs
11. A commitment to trauma-informed, therapeutic practice
12. Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills
13. Enhanced Child or Child & Adult Workforce barred list DBS Certificate registered on the update service
