Role Overview:
As the key individual for our clients Portuguese business, you will play a pivotal role in driving their operational success and growth. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to contribute to a burgeoning success story. Your main responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of commercial activities, including land acquisition, new business development, and the management of supplier and customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
* Land Acquisition: Identifying and securing additional land for expanding the production capacity in Portugal.
* New Business Development: Spearheading efforts to grow the business across Europe, the UK, and Portugal.
* Supplier Relationships: Building and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure a reliable supply chain.
* Customer Management: Managing relationships with their existing customers and identifying opportunities to expand their customer base.
* Water Authority Management: Overseeing water usage and compliance with local water authority regulations.
* Administration Oversight: Leading their QF administration staff to ensure efficient office operations.
* Financial Management: Handling invoicing, credit control, and liaising with their UK based accountants team.
* Transport Coordination: Managing transport logistics, including annual tenders for transport services.
* Cold Store and Dispatch: Overseeing the cold storage and dispatch processes to maintain product quality.
* Landlord Relationships: Managing interactions with landlords to secure and maintain operational sites.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience in the Fresh Produce Sector: Proven experience in a commercial role within the fresh produce industry.
* Commercial Acumen: Strong understanding of commercial practices and the ability to identify and seize business opportunities.
* Energetic and Driven: A self-starter who is motivated by challenges and the prospect of playing a key role in our growth.
* Fluency in Portuguese and English: Excellent communication skills in both languages is required.
* Excellent IT Skills: Proficiency in using technology to enhance business operations and communication.
