Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse | Oncology & Haematology | Full Time – 37.5hrs | Fixed Term Contract | Leeds – LS8
We have an exciting opportunity for an experience Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse to join our Oncology team on a full time, fixed contract basis.
1. Shift Patterns: 8am-6pm 4 days per week
2. Fixed Term Contract – 12 months
3. 1 in 7 UKONS telephone triage on call from home (Not for first 3 month)
Spire Leeds Hospital, located in Roundhay, Leeds, has been treating patients for almost 30 years. We are the region’s largest private hospital in terms of the range of services we offer and the number of consultants we work with. The hospital offers a range of services and facilities including four operating theatres, a sterile services department, a dedicated endoscopy suite, and a diagnostic and imaging department with an MRI and CT scanner. There are outpatient and physiotherapy departments providing services six days per week
Duties and responsibilities
As a Chemotherapy Specialist Nurse you are responsible for delivering nursing services to patients within the unit. Act as key worker and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to help create and maintain a robust oncology and chemotherapy outpatient service.
Provide psychological support, information and advice to patients diagnosed with cancer.
4. Assess patients' health and well-being across a complex and changing caseload of cancer patients.
5. Assist in the delivery of care to meet individuals' health and wellbeing needs throughout the cancer treatment pathway, inclusive of administering chemotherapy
6. Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information related to cancer patient care.
7. Promotes best practice in health and safety and security.
8. Assist in maintaining and developing cancer services.
9. Contribute to quality improvement within cancer services.
10. Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
Who we're looking for
11. Qualified Nurse with a valid NMC registration
12. 2 Years experience of Chemo Nursing
13. SACT trained
14. A willingness to train in Systemic Anti Cancer Treatment
15. Previous experience in nursing patients at risk of infection
16. Qualified in venepuncture and cannulation and the use of CVAD's with evidence of regular competency assessment
17. Working towards a post registration qualification in a clinical cancer specialism (desirable, not essential).
18. Experience of working in a nurse led environment with minimum supervision.
