Conveyancing Legal Assistant | Location: South Devon | Job Type: Full-time, Permanent | Experience: 1–3 years in a conveyancing assistant role | Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
We are a well-established and growing law firm based in South Devon, known for our friendly team environment, client-focused service, and strong reputation in the local property market. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Conveyancing Legal Assistant to join our residential property team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1–3 years of experience in a conveyancing support role to develop their skills in a supportive and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support a busy residential conveyancing department with day-to-day administrative and legal tasks
* Prepare and send out contract packs, searches, and completion statements
* Draft legal documents and correspondence under supervision
* Manage client communications, both by phone and email
* Liaise with estate agents, mortgage lenders, and other solicitors
* Assist with file opening, ID checks, and compliance procedures
* Maintain and update case management systems
* Ensure all work is carried out with accuracy and within deadlines
Requirements
* 1–3 years' experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary in a conveyancing department
* Strong knowledge of the conveyancing process from instruction to post-completion
* Excellent administrative and organisational skills
* Confident communicator with good client-facing skills
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with legal case management systems
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Proactive, flexible approach with good attention to detail
