Job Title: Management accountantLocation: Nantgarw; CardiffHours of Work: Full time – 37.5 hours Monday – FridayRole OverviewWe are seeking a proactive and commercially focused Management Accountant to support the financial performance of our manufacturing site. Working closely with the Site Financial Controller and Plant Leadership Team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and robust financial control to support operational and strategic decision-making.This is an excellent opportunity for a driven finance professional looking to develop in a fast-paced, operational environment.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Control
1. Support the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts in line with internal policies and controls.
2. Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
3. Support the preparation, monitoring, and delivery of the site budget.
Management Accounting & Analysis
4. Provide timely and meaningful financial analysis to support plant performance.
5. Partner with operational managers to understand cost drivers and performance trends.
6. Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc analysis and reporting.
Cost Accounting, Inventory & Assets
7. Maintain accurate costing of products, inventory, and overheads.
8. Support inventory control processes, reconciliations, and physical stock counts.
9. Assist with asset accounting and related controls.
Forecasting & Month-End
10. Contribute to forecasting and planning cycles.
11. Prepare accruals, prepayments, and journals for month-end close.
12. Review and analyse expense accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Support
13. Act as a finance business partner to operational teams.
14. Promote a customer-focused, service-driven finance function.
15. Build strong working relationships across the site.
Continuous Improvement & Culture
16. Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance and operations.
17. Champion company values and contribute to a high-performance culture.
18. Promote safe working practices within the finance function.
About You
19. Part-qualified or qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA preferred)
20. Experience in a manufacturing or operational finance environment (desirable)
21. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
22. Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders
23. Highly organised with strong attention to detail
24. Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus
