and What You'll Be Doing
You’ll join Irwin Mitchell’s nationally recognised Commercial Dispute Resolution team, led by Partner and National Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution, This role can be based in our Birmingham, Brighton or Gatwick offices and offers the opportunity to collaborate across a truly national practice.
Our commercial disputes lawyers advise businesses, financial institutions and individuals on resolving complex, high‑value disputes efficiently and strategically. The team is known for combining technical excellence with strong commercial judgement and a clear understanding of clients’ wider business objectives.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
1. Advising on a broad range of commercial disputes, including domestic and cross‑border contract disputes
2. Acting on shareholder, partnership and director disputes
3. Handling professional negligence claims
4. Assisting with urgent and strategic dispute resolution work, including injunctive relief and reputation‑sensitive matters
5. Managing matters with an appropriate level of autonomy, with support and supervision from senior colleagues
6. Working directly with clients and supporting the development of long‑term client relationships
7. Contributing to business development initiatives and collaborating with colleagues across the firm to deliver joined‑up advice
You’ll have exposure to high‑quality, often complex work from an early stage and will be encouraged to take on responsibility as your experience develops.
About You
We’re keen to hear from experienced lawyers looking to develop their careers within a leading commercial disputes practice. Ideally, you’ll bring:
8. Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 3 years PQE
9. Experience in commercial litigation or dispute resolution
10. Strong drafting, analytical and technical skills
11. A commercial, client‑focused mindset
12. Confidence working on complex matters as part of a collaborative team
13. The ability to take increasing ownership of matters as your experience grows
14. An interest in business development and building strong client relationships
