Overview
The Production Planner is responsible for developing, coordinating and optimizing production schedules to ensure efficient operations and timely delivery of products. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.
Key Accountabilities
* Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to meet customer orders, forecasted demand, and inventory targets. Ensure schedules are realistic and achievable.
* Continuously monitor production processes, identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks, and adjust schedules to minimize downtime and ensure timely delivery.
* Work closely with procurement, inventory management, production, and quality control teams to ensure the availability of materials, resources, and information needed for production.
* Analyze production data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
* Coordinate with the quality control team to ensure that all products meet established quality standards and specifications and address any quality issues promptly.
* Prepare and present detailed production reports to management, highlighting key metrics, production status, and any issues or risks. Provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
* Implement and maintain production planning software and tools, ensuring their effective use to streamline planning processes and improve accuracy.
* Participate in and lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing resource utilization.
* Ensure all planning activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience
* Education: APICS certification or similar qualification in Supply Chain Management or a related field is preferred.
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Production Planning or a similar role.
* Skills:
o Strong understanding of production planning and inventory management principles.
o Proficiency in production planning software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
o Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
o Strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
o Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
o Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and demands.
