Job Description:
Purpose: Responsible for the deployment and support of Azure applications using DevOps tools and methodologies for production, staging, and development environments.
Landscape: The Assessment Technology group is responsible for operational systems delivering millions of GCSE and A-level results annually. The Scanning & Marking department, reporting to the Director of Assessment Technology, manages several software products in this area.
This position is within the Platform Services & Support team in the Scanning & Marking department and reports directly to the Platform Services and Support Manager.
Activities:
* Deploy and support Azure applications using DevOps tools and methodologies.
* Provide advice on Infrastructure and Security; collaborate with architecture and application development teams to meet business objectives.
* Implement system monitoring and alerting to maintain application health.
* Provide technical support for infrastructure in Azure and on-premise.
* Ensure security controls are in place and recommend improvements.
* Maintain performance monitoring and suggest enhancements.
* Participate in out-of-hours incident support rota (around 4-6 weeks/year).
* Report to the Platform Services & Support Manager as required.
Experience: Minimum 1 year in an Azure infrastructure engineer role.
Qualifications: AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator (essential); AZ-400 or AZ-305 (desirable).
Skills:
* Strong knowledge of IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS in Azure.
* Proficiency in PowerShell, T-SQL, and scripting languages.
* Knowledge of IaC, Bicep, and ARM.
* Experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially Azure DevOps YAML and classic pipelines.
* Troubleshooting deployment and configuration pipelines.
