Tea Room Co-Manager/Job Coach (Catering & Hospitality) – Make a Difference While Running a Community Café
Location: East Lambrook / South Petherton area
Salary: £14 an hour
Hours: 16-24 hours a week but with potential of more if needed. Some flexibility over hours but with a commitment to cover Mondays and Tuesdays.
Contract: Permanent (short, paid trial period first)
What You'll Be Doing
* Cafe Supervision:
o Oversee daily operations of our welcoming community cafe
o Manage staff schedules, inventory, and supplier relationships
o Ensure exceptional customer service and food safety standards
o Drive sales growth and manage budgets
o Create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for all customers
o Develop seasonal menus and special events
* Supported Employment Coaching:
o Support individuals with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, or other barriers to employment
o Provide hands-on job coaching in cafe operations (barista skills, food preparation, customer service, cash handling)
o Develop personalized training plans and track progress
o Collaborate with external agencies, families, and support networks
o Promote independence and build confidence in the workplace
o Assist with job placement and ongoing employment support
What We're Looking For
* Essential:
o Experience in hospitality/cafe management or similar customer-facing role
o Understanding of supported employment principles or disability support OR some experience in teaching or learning support OR experience supporting family members with learning difficulties
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
o A good sense of humour is essential
o Patience, understanding, empathy, and a person-centered approach
o Food hygiene certification (or willingness to obtain)
o Strong organizational and leadership abilities
o Passion for creating inclusive environments
o Creative thinking and marketing flair to develop customer attraction strategies
o Be willing to undergo a 2 week paid trial (working interview)
* Desirable:
o Qualification in supported employment, social care, or related field
o Experience working with individuals with disabilities
o Barista training/coffee knowledge
o First aid certification
o Knowledge of relevant legislation (Equality Act, Health & Safety, Food Safety)
o Driving licence and own transport
