Food, DT and Art Technician
Grade 3 (Outer London): £29,436‑£29,856 FTE + Performance and Loyalty Bonus + Pension Scheme (LGPS) + Harris Wellbeing Cash Plan + Additional Harris Benefits.
We are seeking to appoint a Food, DT and Art Technician to work within our high performing Academy working 38 weeks per year. This is an ideal position for an experienced Technician with experience working within a school setting.

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed Academy for 1,300 students aged 11‑18, with a large sixth form of nearly 400 students. The Academy has three consecutive Outstanding judgments by Ofsted, with the most recent inspection in 2025 finding the Academy to be Outstanding in every category. Responsibilities
* Assist and advise teaching staff on the preparation and layout in classrooms for practical exercises, running trials, demonstrations, and helping students with learning activities as appropriate.
* Ensure safe disposal of waste and maintain hygiene and health‑and‑safety standards.
* Prepare equipment and materials for lessons to the specification of the teacher requisitions, including shopping/ordering, preparing ingredients, making up special equipment, or modifying existing equipment as necessary.
* Collaborate with teachers to advise students on the safe and proper use of tools and equipment and the correct safe way to carry out learning activities. Advise staff on health and safety issues and best practices for practical work.
* Support students in preparing materials for both 3D and 2D projects, e.g. stretch canvas, prepare screens for printing.
* Assist in practical lessons and after‑hours activities when requested.
Qualifications & Experience
* Qualifications to A Level or equivalent.
* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
* Experience working with a range of Art, Food Technology and/or Design Technology equipment and resources.
* Experience or solid understanding of working as a technician in a school or educational establishment, undertaking a range of practical tasks.
