Mental Health Occupational Therapist - Intensive Life Skills Team
We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Community Mental Health Occupational Therapist to work within our Intensive Life Skills Pathway based in clinic or community venues within South Staffordshire (Lichfield, Tamworth, Burton, Uttoxeter, Cannock, Stafford and Seisdon). The Intensive Life Skills (ILS) Pathway is a multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team providing assessment and intervention for adults 17+ experiencing complex emotional difficulties as part of the Adult Mental Health Service. The pathway uses therapeutic models including Structured Clinical Management (SCM), attachment theory, behavioural theory, Compassion-Focussed Therapy, EMDR, Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mentalisation-Based Treatment. The successful candidate will be offered to attend the (DBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Essential skills training, to use the knowledge and skills learnt in combining individual and workshop-based interventions. You will need to travel independently over a large geographical area and will require suitable transport.
Responsibilities
* Delivering group based and individual interventions in line with the pathway model and utilising Structured Clinical Management (SCM). There will be a requirement to undertake the role of named worker for a caseload of service users.
* Some individual and group-based interventions are delivered remotely, and the successful candidate will therefore have strong ICT skills and be able to communicate effectively with others through technology.
* Participate in both delivering and receiving a range of clinical supervision and professional and clinical development within the pathway.
* Provide consultation, support and clinical supervision to other health professionals working within the Integrated Community Mental Health Services and Older Adults service and other areas of the Trust where identified as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
As a Mental Health Community Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to undertake holistic comprehensive assessments and formulation of complex clinical presentations, including risk assessments and risk management.
Qualifications And Training
* Essential criteria: Dip COT or degree in Occupational Therapy plus post qualification knowledge and experience to post graduate diploma level as outlined in JD
* BAOT Registered
* Member of COT
* Health And Care Professions Council Registered Occupational Therapist
Experience
* Essential criteria: Evidence of extensive post registration experience with working with adults experiencing mental health related difficulties
* Experience of integrating care delivery across multi-disciplinary/multi-agency teams
* Experience of leading/contributing to assessing, reviewing and implementing of care.
Desirable criteria
* Experience of working in community setting and making decisions autonomously
