Overview
We are seeking a forward-thinking Medical Director for Mental Health and Learning Disabilities to join the senior Care Group leadership team at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. You’ll work with the Executive Medical Director, Chief Operating Officer, Service Director, Nurse Director, Psychology Director, and Clinical Directors across a diverse portfolio of services. The role focuses on strategic and operational leadership to enhance recruitment and retention and build a modern, multidisciplinary team aligned with the Welsh Government’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2025–2035.
The Medical Director post is 4–6 Programmed Activities (PA) with consideration of further clinical work tailored to your interests. Mentorship in medical leadership and management is available. Relocation support is available; more details are in the recruitment pack.
Main duties
* Provide strategic and operational leadership to support a committed medical workforce and deliver high-quality patient care.
* Lead the Care Group to improve and transform quality, performance, clinical activity, financial management, and strategy and business development.
* Promote a "one CTM" approach, working across Care Groups, specialties and partners to implement national, regional and local strategies.
* Oversee integrated transformational service change using clinical expertise and strategic leadership to benefit the whole CTM population while maintaining focus on quality, patient experience and equitable access to services.
