Community - Based Energy Adviser (Gloucester or South Gloucestershire)
South West, England - South West, United Kingdom
Severn Wye is looking for caring and confident individuals to support people facing fuel poverty and champion energy efficiency.
These vital roles will place you at the heart of our organisation’s work. You’ll provide support across an allocated area of Gloucestershire or South Gloucestershire, visiting people in their homes, offering telephone advice, and engaging with the community at local events—making a real difference in people’s lives through direct, compassionate, and informed guidance.
Our preference is for these roles to be full-time; however, we can offer flexibility around working patterns and can consider reduced hours over three to five days for the right candidate. Please include details of your preferred working pattern with your application. jacquih@severnwye.org.uk. If you wish to discuss this further.
As a Community-based Energy Adviser, you will focus on supporting and educating individuals and families who face barriers to accessing energy services and may be in fuel poverty. You will work with people in their homes or advise them at community events. You will support them through managing and reducing debt, accessing funding, and engaging with smart technology.
This can be a demanding role—some clients will face significant challenges—but it is extremely rewarding. You will make a measurable difference to people’s quality of life by empowering at-risk consumers with knowledge and confidence to manage their energy use, ultimately saving money and improving resilience and wellbeing. You will be a positive, intuitive, and caring ally, empowering people overwhelmed by energy issues and facing economic and social challenges.
Why you’ll enjoy working with us
Severn Wye is a great organisation to work for. We love what we do. You will enjoy a relaxed and supportive environment, with colleagues who are knowledgeable, generous, and committed to making a difference. Our flexible working arrangements are designed to support work/life balance, accommodating employees of all ages and backgrounds.
We’ll provide training to help you grow in your role and understand the energy landscape. You’ll start with 24 days of annual leave, increasing to 29 days plus bank holidays. Benefits include Group Life Assurance, a company pension scheme with 7% employer contributions, social events, and employee discounts on various outlets.
If this environment sounds right for you, we’d love to hear from you.
