Security Officer
Location: Winchester
Pay Rate: £14.13 per hour
Annual Salary: £30,859.92 per year
Hours: 05:00 – 17:00
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off
Contract: 42 hours per week
Responsibilities
Protection of Property and Premises
* Prevent and deter unauthorised access to the site.
* Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms, and CCTV systems as appropriate.
* Conduct external and internal security patrols in line with Assignment Instructions.
* Provide traffic control and apply parking restrictions where required.
* Carry out routine tests of security equipment as necessary.
* Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
* Ensure all equipment provided by the customer and Securitas is handled and maintained in line with agreed procedures.
* Maintain accurate logbooks and records as required by Assignment Instructions.
* Issue visitor and contractor passes in accordance with site procedures.
* Handle lost property in line with Assignment Instructions.
Health and Safety
* Provide support, guidance, and information to staff, visitors, and contractors while ensuring the safety and security of the premises.
* Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
* Identify, record, and report faults, health and safety hazards, and unsafe working practices to the supervisor or manager.
* Report and record all accidents in accordance with Assignment Instructions.
* Ensure all walkways and emergency escape routes remain clear at all times.
* Report any use of First Aid equipment and any shortages within First Aid boxes.
* Notify the Securitas Operations Centre (SOC) of any emergencies and follow all instructions given.
* Investigate and establish the cause of all fire alarm activations.
Qualifications
* Valid SIA licence (or be actively working toward acquiring one).
* Right to work in the UK, with a five‑year checkable employment history or ability to provide documentary evidence for any periods of unemployment, self‑employment, or education during that time.
* Over 18 years of age.
* No current criminal convictions.
* Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
* Demonstrate the ability to embody and uphold Securitas’ core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness.
* A professional, customer‑focused approach with excellent interpersonal skills.
* The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Punctual, reliable, and professional at all times.
* Flexible and willing to work shift patterns, including days, nights, and weekends.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own transport is desirable.
* Five years of security experience, strong communicator, and keen attention to detail.
