MISSION Production Technician is a key team member of our new UK Production facility, working with a Production Planner and the UK Operations Manager on project-based tasks. Typical tasks include electronic and electro-mechanical assembly, bench testing of components and subassemblies, parts installation, wiring, cable harnessing and hand soldering, using defined procedures, specifications, and standards. Working conditions include bench-top workspaces for assembly and testing, and large assembly areas for system installation and integration. Off-site installation and integration occur occasionally and is usually done locally wherever possible. Typical tools and equipment used include hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, Windows-based computers and Office software, electrical and cable assembly tools. RESPONSIBILITIES Organises and verifies components for assembly or installation Assembles sub-assembly and/or final assembly units in a timely fashion Solders wires and assembly of cable connections as required Builds and tests electro-mechanical assemblies to written specifications Maintains accurate records of all quality, operations and assembly related documentation and procedures Documents mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures using established procedures, works with Project Engineers, Team Leads and QC as required Performs testing and calibration of products as required Ensure high quality of executed duties on an ongoing basis to support exceptional standards of quality, delivery, compliance and excellence Comply with OSI Maritime Systems established ISO-9001-compliant development guidelines and standards Comply with workplace operational, environmental, health and safety procedure guidelines DECISION MAKING & AUTHORITY Authority to determine tasks, equipment and tools required to carry out assigned work within their capability and training, and within approved QMS and Corporate Procedures and Policies to complete assigned work. Applies judgement as to when to obtain clarity and assistance for assigned work. KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS Education: A-Level (or equivalent) in electrical or electronics technology, or equivalent experience Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in electro-mechanical assembly, test and integration experience Experience with soldering required Experience in electro-mechanical assembly and testing including cabling, crimping, soldering, and labelling Experience working in an ISO 9001 compliant environment would be an asset Experience using hand tools, power tools, measuring tools, jigs and fixtures Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel Ability to work independently or within a team Attention to detail Excellent oral and written English communication skills Strong organisational skills Adequate visual acuity for close vision, colour and depth perception This position may require lifting and moving products of up to 25kg. Must be eligible to receive & maintain UK Security Clearance (SC) May be required to work overtime as needed with time being given back in Lieu (TOIL), and some domestic travel
