Octric Semiconductor is a new name in the compound semiconductor foundry space. Its devices are used in mission critical defence and commercial applications.
For over 25-years, we have been delivering over 1.5 billion devices that have been shipped from our site to date.

Located in Newton Aycliffe, UK, we occupy a 10,000 m2 purpose-built Class 100 manufacturing facility fully equipped to produce state of the art compound semiconductor product.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Install, repair, and maintain electrical wiring, circuits, clean room tools and fixtures in accordance with electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
* Read and interpret, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute electrical installations and repairs accurately.
* Ensure all electrical installations are completed on schedule are handed over to production in a timely manner.
* Inspect electrical systems, components, and equipment to identify defects, faults, or malfunctions, and diagnose issues using testing equipment and tools.
* Troubleshoot electrical problems, such as power outages, short circuits, and voltage fluctuations, and implement corrective actions to restore functionality.
* Install and configure electrical systems and equipment, such as lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, circuit breakers, and electrical panels, following manufacturer specifications and guidelines.
* Perform preventive maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting electrical components and systems, to prevent breakdowns and ensure reliability.
* Test electrical systems and components for proper operation, voltage, current, and resistance, using multimeters, voltage testers, and other diagnostic tools.
* Collaborate with other tradespeople, contractors, and project managers to coordinate electrical work and ensure integration with other building systems and construction activities.
* Ensure compliance with electrical safety regulations.
* Install and maintain grounding systems, surge protectors, and electrical safety devices to protect against electrical hazards, shocks, and fires.
* Provide technical guidance and support to apprentices.
* Maintain accurate records of electrical work performed, including work orders, maintenance logs, and inspection reports (Maximo trained would be an advantage).
* Respond to emergency power outages, or electrical emergencies promptly, troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and disruptions.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following proper procedures for handling tools, equipment, and hazardous materials, and always adhering to safety protocols.
* manage and control appropriate isolation procedures factory wide to satisfy current legislation and be able to carry out HV isolation and control the system.
* Plan, coordinate, supervise and monitor contractors/vendors work on site, where applicable, and report back on the progress of work. Supply technical support and knowledge for maintenance, upkeep and refurbishment of site DCS and PLC Systems. This will include MCERTS equipment associated with site IPPC Permit Assist in the commissioning of plant with process and commissioning engineers.
* Assist in the production of electrical system designs for process and utilities systems.
* Ensure stable supply of services of the right quantity and quality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience
* Completion of an electrical apprenticeship program.
* Qualified to BS 7671 (requirements for electrical installations) 18th edition.
* Proven experience as an electrician, with a track record of performing electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance in commercial, or industrial settings.
* Thorough knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, and technical diagrams to plan and execute electrical work installation work accurately.
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose electrical issues and implement effective solutions.
* Attention to detail and precision in performing electrical installations, connections, and terminations, ensuring compliance with specifications and quality standards.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
