£17.00 - £18.00 per hour (PAYE)
Role Overview
We are seeking a
dedicated and detail-oriented Incoming Goods Quality Inspector
to ensure that all incoming materials meet the required quality standards. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining product quality, supporting production processes, and collaborating with both internal teams and external suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
in-process tests and inspections, including hardness, weight, variation, and failure testing, to ensure batches meet specifications.
Check materials against engineering drawings, standards, specifications, and norms.
Process defined routines to safeguard established quality criteria.
Monitor
corrective actions
initiated by QA and document results in the relevant systems.
Initiate rework in accordance with SQA procedures when required.
Report on failures, initiate
Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and communicate with suppliers regarding quality issues.
Operate within inbound logistics or production sites to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Collaborate with Quality, Logistics, and Production teams, participating in project-specific production meetings.
Serve as the main point of contact for SQA and order supervisors regarding QA activities on-site.
Ensure deviations in materials are systematically recorded, evaluated, and corrected, implementing
corrective and preventive measures
in collaboration with relevant departments.
Manage inspections in
restricted zones .
Undertake 4D/8D problem-solving processes where applicable.
Utilize
measuring equipment
accurately and read engineering drawings proficiently.
Apply
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
principles.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of
2 years' experience
in a similar quality inspection role.
Ability to use measuring equipment and read engineering drawings.
Understanding of GD&T principles.
Strong communication skills to liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
Must have experience of SAP
Desirable Skills & Experience
Knowledge of
sampling plans and statistical methodologies .
Experience working with
ISO 9000, IRIS, or other international standards .
Proficient in
computer systems
for documentation and reporting.
Experience working directly with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of quality methods and analytical tools such as
APQP, RCA, 5Y, 8D .
Previous experience as an
internal auditor .
Experience in the
rail industry
(not essential but advantageous).
