The starting salary for this role is £40,296 per annum, based on a 36 working hour week. This is a secondment offer until 29 May 2026.
We are hiring a Data Analytics Lead to join our People & Change – Management Information Team and play an important role in ensuring accurate workforce data, upholding data compliance, and driving innovation in analytics to enhance service delivery.

About the Team
The Management Information team is the backbone of HR data operations delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient workforce reporting. We provide the technical foundation that supports strategic decision-making across the organisation, and work in active partnership with the Insight & Intelligence team to drive change.
About the Role
As the Data Analytics Lead, you will manage the Management Information Team and report to the Insight and Intelligence Lead within People & Change. You will play a vital
role in ensuring the accuracy of workforce data, maintaining operational efficiency, and driving innovation in analytics and reporting across the organisation.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include managing complex data queries, responding to Freedom of Information requests, supporting statutory reporting, and ensuring data compliance with regulations such as GDPR. You will collaborate with teams across the organisation to validate data, automate processes, and improve reporting tools and outputs.
This role is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for data integrity and innovation. You will be instrumental in supporting senior leaders with clear, actionable insights that influence key decisions and improve service delivery.
Shortlisting Criteria
To be shortlisted to interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:
10. Degree qualified with progressive experience translating customer needs into application and operational requirements.
11. Advanced IT skills including FME, Tableau, SQL (Python elements), Power BI.
12. Strong knowledge of business planning, financial and organisational management, ERP systems, data architecture, and integration.
13. Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation, influencing skills, and ability to collaborate with colleagues and external partners at all levels.
14. Experience in business analysis within large organisations, using relevant tools and methodologies.
15. Proven track record of driving business improvements and new working methods through Data and Analytics platforms.

Surrey County Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation which will allow us to implement the Government led policy of devolution, which is all about giving more powers to local areas.
Currently, Surrey has a two-tier council system, with 11 district and borough councils and a county council, all responsible for different services.
