Role Overview
As the Ophthalmic Technician, your core responsibility is to deliver precise diagnostic imaging for patients undergoing treatments performed by Mr Stevens — including laser vision correction, cataract surgery, ICL implants, corneal cross-linking, and corneal transplantation.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform a full suite of ophthalmic diagnostic tests, including:
* OCT scans
* Intraocular pressure / tonometry
* Biometry
* Corneal topography
* Autorefraction
* Endothelial cell counts
* Vision/acuity checks (including instilling drops when needed)
* Review patient records to identify required scans for each consultation
* Operate diagnostic equipment and accurately input/manipulate patient data
* Escalate any abnormal or clinically significant findings to the ophthalmic/medical team
* Collaborate closely with the other technicians and wider clinical staff to maintain high standards
* Liaise with reception and administrative staff to ensure optimal patient flow and minimal waiting times
Candidate Profile / Requirements
* Experience in ophthalmic/optometry settings is required.
* Proficiency with ophthalmic diagnostic instruments and imaging software
* Meticulous attention to detail and adherence to clinical protocols
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate and professional in patient interactions
* Organised, adaptable, and able to thrive in a busy outpatient environment
