Obstetric Ultrasound Cross Site Lead

We are looking for an experienced, passionate sonographer to lead our Obstetric Ultrasound service across Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust. If you have advanced obstetric ultrasound knowledge and skills and are ready to take the lead within this area of ultrasound, we are keen for you to join the Ultrasound team.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of Obstetric Sonographer Cross Site Lead and work within the Humber Health Partnership (HHP), delivering obstetric ultrasound services, training and education. Primarily this role includes cross‑site working over the NLAG sites, and there is an expectation to work closely with colleagues at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) with whom we are in partnership.

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for leading the Screening Support Service (SSS) across NLAG. You will oversee the ultrasound screening processes, ensuring quality assurance and supporting the fetal anomaly screening programmes. Alongside this you will have a blend of clinical and managerial responsibilities, being responsible for service improvements, policy development, team management, audit, training and development within the sphere of obstetric ultrasound.


Main duties of the job

Working across site you would be responsible for developing, delivering and enhancing the Obstetric Ultrasound Service.

* Upholding safe, effective service delivery within Obstetric Ultrasound across NLAG, working closely with service and clinical leads across site to support this.
* You will undertake a wide variety of obstetric ultrasound examinations, ensuring best clinical practice is upheld, alongside optimal diagnostic imaging.
* You will have a shared level of responsibility for all aspects of the NLAG Ultrasound service with the other Sonography Clinical Leads.
* You will act as the NLAG SSS lead, ensuring adherence to FASP / National Screening Committee standards and managing a deputy at each site.
* You will lead multidisciplinary image review sessions and liaise with DQASS on quality improvement and training outcomes.
* You will supervise and support training of staff within the sphere of obstetric ultrasound.
* You will manage clinical governance, incident reporting and service audit, to uphold imaging quality and patient safety.
* You will coordinate departmental resources.
* You will represent the service at Trust meetings, contributing to strategic planning and service improvement.
* You will assist in overseeing staffing, sickness, appraisals, recruitment and performance monitoring.
* Ensure accurate documentation and data entry via hospital IT systems.
* You will collaborate with HUTH in order that the obstetric service across the HHP can be unified.


Person Specification

Eductation and qualifications
* Current and up‑to‑date registration through HCPC / NMC
* Post Graduate diploma in Medical / Obstetric Ultrasound (CASE accredited or equivalent)
* Professional qualification and relevant background (e.g. BSc Radiography / Midwifery)
* Hold or be working towards MSc in a relevant subject
* Managerial or leadership training
Knowledge and skills
* Demonstrate significant experience of working in the field / area of obstetric ultrasound
* Demonstrate specialist clinical experience in the field of obstetric ultrasound
* Demonstrate management / leadership experience
