The primary purpose of this post is to support learners with additional support needs as an effective member of the Learning Support Team.
2. Principle Accountabilities
1. Ensure learners with additional support needs are effectively supported in learning activities in the College and/or community, maintaining high-standard records of support.
2. Communicate effectively with individual learners to clarify additional support arrangements prior to learning activities.
3. Adopt strategies to enable each learner to become more independent in various settings including the classroom, workshop, learning centre, College, and community.
4. Assist with personal care needs according to individual requirements, including administering medication within college procedures and following training.
5. Provide personal care support such as toileting, changing, bathing, and lifting with specialist equipment, following appropriate training.
6. Communicate with teaching staff to clarify additional support arrangements before learning activities.
7. Assist in preparing and modifying learning materials and resources for individual learners.
8. Maintain confidentiality of learner information in line with College policy.
9. Support learners in participating in social, recreational, leisure, sports, and voluntary activities on an individual basis.
10. Contribute to the development of the Learning Support Service as a team member, collaborating with colleagues and external agencies.
11. Be familiar with rights and responsibilities under current Health and Safety legislation.
12. Comply with all College Policies and Procedures, including those related to Finance, Personnel, Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities.
13. Perform other duties as required by the Principal & Chief Executive, commensurate with the grade of the post.
