The Assistant Lawyer will assist Tim Ingram in our Crime and Regulatory Team, dealing with motor crime cases ranging from basic motor offences to dangerous driving, manslaughter, or serious injury.

The role involves investigating incident circumstances, supporting clients, taking statements, attending interviews under caution, and assisting with cases through to resolution.
We consider full or part-time hours between 28-35 hours per week.
The role is suitable for someone with a legal aid background looking to move into private practice. An NQ solicitor with 6-12 months experience in a criminal setting, located in the Midlands, South-East, East, or South-West, is preferred. The role requires travel to police stations and courts.
Key Responsibilities
* Review and analysis of prosecution evidence and implications for clients or companies
* Drafting statements of insured/witnesses
* Reviewing and collating client evidence, summarising for case handlers
* Liaising with courts, regulators, and experts
* Serving defence case statements and bundles
* Drafting submissions and liaising with clients regarding prosecution and disclosure
* Reviewing evidence transcripts
* Attending conferences, meetings, and drafting notes
* Representing clients at interviews under caution, trials, and inquests
* Organising evidence, preparing bundles, and reviewing reports
* Researching relevant guidelines and client procedures
* Ensuring compliance with SRA standards
* Preparing reports and advice for clients
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise
A qualified Solicitor with motor crime experience and:
* Ability to prioritise workload and pay attention to detail
* Experience with case management systems
* Strong client communication skills, sensitive to their circumstances
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Calmness under pressure
* Self-confidence, literacy, and IT skills
* Teamwork and flexibility
