This challenging and exciting Setting Out Engineer opportunity requires an individual with a good level of qualification, coupled with at least 3-5 years relevant setting out experience from the civil engineering, construction, infrastructure, or groundworks sectors. Attendance on site is required, so a full UK driving licence, all required certifications (CSCS, etc.), and the willingness to travel are essential.
The permanent package includes an attractive basic salary, a full expensed vehicle, fuel, bonus, pension, health benefits, and 33 days holiday.
Due to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of long-term major contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an individual responsible for leading and managing all setting out aspects of various projects. The role supports engineering, project, and site management teams to enable accurate setting out, material and plant quantity estimation, quality checking, control of subcontractors, and timely site mobilisation.
Typical Duties

2. Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, lines, and other terrain characteristics to produce accurate volumetric information.
3. Prepare or supervise the preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to setting out.
4. Take measurements and gather data to determine levels, positions, and elevations.
5. Determine longitudes and latitudes of important features and boundaries using instruments such as Leica, LSS, Total Station, theodolites, transits, levels, and GPS systems.
6. Liaise and coordinate with engineering and project teams, and other stakeholders.
7. Establish fixed points using appropriate equipment and instruments.
8. Plan and conduct setting out to establish baselines, elevations, and other measurements.
9. Analyze data and specifications to prepare reports that enable accurate setting out, material and plant estimation, and site mobilisation.
