Overview
We wish to appoint a substantive Specialist Doctor in Obstetrics to further develop our highly rated obstetrics and gynaecological services at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Applications are welcomed from those with sufficient experience to manage clinical activity in the Birth Centre pregnancy assessment unit, and to manage the gynaecology take independently. Experience in providing antenatal care with management of the vast majority of patients independently is expected.
Responsibilities
* Manage clinical activity in the Birth Centre pregnancy assessment unit.
* Lead the gynaecology take independently.
* Provide antenatal care and manage the vast majority of patients independently.
* Provide on‑call gynaecology cover, including management of early pregnancy problems and surgical and medical management of ectopic pregnancy.
* Collaborate with existing gynaecologists for ongoing care of patients seen on the take.
* Improve team flexibility by covering gaps due to annual/sick/study leave; support with clinical activities split between PAs.
* Be capable of filling a consultant slot on the rota while also accepting registrar‑level responsibilities.
* Provide assessment, care and treatment of emergency patients presenting to the Maternity and Gynaecology department.
* Work as an effective team member, provide clinical leadership for our clinical teams, and engage fully with the MDT.
