🎯 Your Purpose
As a Senior Process Engineer within one of our four business units, you will provide technical leadership and direction to process engineers. You will ensure that process design deliverables are robust, fit for purpose, and meet all required standards and project outcomes.
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
1. Lead and manage quality through the process design workflow, delivering projects on time, within cost, and to quality standards
2. Review mass balances, process sizing, hydraulic calculations, P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and other design documentation
3. Check construction site design queries and change requests, providing prompt and accurate responses
4. Support Project Design Managers with design planning and stakeholder engagement for process design acceptance
5. Provide technical input into supplier contracts and review deliverables
6. Champion health, safety, and welfare, ensuring compliance with process standards and hazardous area regulations (DSEAR) 🦺
7. Mentor and develop junior engineers, promoting best practice and professional growth
8. Embrace innovation and digital technologies to drive continuous improvement and reduce carbon impact ♻️
9. Participate in wider Anglian Water initiatives, including HAZOPs, technical standards forums, and emergency response activities
👤 About You
We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Senior Process Engineer with strong technical and leadership capability. Ideally, you will have:
10. An engineering degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or Process Engineering) or equivalent experience
11. Chartered status or be working towards chartership
12. Extensive experience within the water sector, particularly process design and capital delivery
13. Strong knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and environmental requirements
14. A proven track record of mentoring and developing junior engineers
15. Experience in a Design & Build environment (advantageous, but not essential)
16. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills with a collaborative approach
17. A genuine commitment to sustainability and reducing environmental impact 🌱

📍 Place Based Thinking
The Place Based Thinking team delivers some of the largest and most complex projects across the @one Alliance. Made up of six Senior Project Manager teams, we oversee 19 catchments, including Whitlingham, Flag Fen, Great Billing, Cotton Valley, Bedford, Colchester, and Ipswich Cliff Quays.
Projects span rising and gravity mains, pumping stations, high spilling overflows, and water recycling centres.
💧 Water
The Water Business Unit provides strategic support across the clean water network, covering system performance and infrastructure planning. We assess future hydraulic conditions driven by population growth and demand, support capital delivery, and work with optimisation teams to improve network efficiency and resilience.
♻️ Water Recycling (East & West)
Our Water Recycling Business Unit is responsible for the collection, conveyance, and treatment of wastewater across 76,000 km of sewerage infrastructure and 1,163 treatment centres. The team ensures safe, sustainable discharge to the environment while driving innovation and performance improvements.
