We have an exciting opportunity for a nurse with TB experience and clinical knowledge of working with clients with TB or showing a wiliness to learn on the job to cover maternity leave for one year.
Working with a team of specialist nurses you will be motivated, forward thinking and able to plan and prioritize care for patients with complex health care needs. Naturally, you will need to be flexible, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team based within the Community at Shrewsbury Road Healthcare Centre.
The team provides Nurse Led clinics and a range of services to patients referred into them from GP’s and Hospital teams, including, Contact tracing, DOT & TB screening. You will also work alongside a team of Respiratory Consultants and in Conjunction with other Nurse Specialists who may be based at different locations.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Responsibilities:
To ensure at all times, that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery.
·To undertake screening clinics in line with agreed protocols and competencies.
·To select, carry out and interpret the results of specific tests; e.g. Mantoux test (diagnostic tool), IGRA, routine blood tests, visual acuity and BCG vaccination (by intradermal injection) under patient group direction, within agreed local protocols and in accordance with national guidance.
·To provide clinic support, ensuring the patient pathway during their outpatient appointment in Doctor and Nurse led clinic is a positive experience. This will involve being welcoming, maintaining a safe, comfortable environment, keeping patients informed on waiting times, liaising with pharmacy and other hospital departments.
To implement specialised programmes of care in collaboration with the wider TB team in order to provide individualised care, education and support to meet the needs of patients with TB /LTBI diagnosis.
To work towards undertaking and managed own caseload of LTBI cases with support of TB CNS

·Be an active member of the London TB workforce group.
·Works within MDT, team meetings, participates in and actively contributes.
·To ensure patient experience feedback is collected and incorporated into service development.
Professional Practice:
·Keep up to date with a working knowledge of relevant NMC guidelines and demonstrate this in clinical practice.
·To pursue a programme of continuous education to achieve and maintain expertise for the post.
·To maintain and develop a lifelong learning portfolio.
·Demonstrate a good understanding of the public health strategies and issues relating to this patient group.
·To participate in own 1:1 meetings. Identify own clinical competency, strengths and deficits/educational development needs through participation in the Trusts appraisal process.
