Paediatric Surgery Senior Fellow
Contract Details
Fixed‑term: 12 months starting as soon as possible, or 6 months starting 1 October 2026.
Purpose
This post is appointed on a fixed‑term basis for the primary purpose of providing structured training and supervised clinical development. While the postholder will contribute to service delivery, the overarching purpose is to provide defined educational opportunities, supervised clinical practice, and experience aligned to the relevant specialty training curriculum.
Responsibilities
* Assess and manage paediatric and neonatal surgical patients (inpatient, outpatient, emergency)
* Participate in elective and emergency operating lists
* Provide perioperative care and contribute to ward rounds and MDT discussions
* Take part in the 1 in 9 partial shift on‑call rota (including nights and weekends)
* Support teaching of junior staff and medical students
* Participate in audit, quality improvement, and departmental governance activities
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications
* Minimum of 6 years of Specialty training
* Relevant higher specialty exam (FRCP, FRCA, FRCS)
* A portfolio demonstrating progression criteria in line with the specialty curriculum
Salary and Benefits
Salary will be assessed based on experience and skills. Basic salary plus any additional remuneration for hours set out in the doctors’ work schedule, including weekend allowance and enhanced pay where applicable. Additional Information
Appointment will be made under local contractual terms and conditions of service for Trust‑appointed fellows. Skilled Worker sponsorship applicants must meet Home Office criteria before applying. Continued Professional Development is highly supported with study leave options.
