The Department & Academic Culture You will join a growing Social Sciences faculty where Psychology is one of the most popular and high-attaining subjects at Key Stage 5. Core Responsibilities Advanced Instructional Delivery: Teaching A-Level Psychology, covering core domains such as Social Influence, Memory, Attachment, and Psychopathology. Research Methods Mastery: Equipping students with the tools to design, conduct, and analyse psychological research, focusing on both quantitative and qualitative data. Biopsychology Integration: Explaining the biological underpinnings of behaviour, including the structure of the nervous system and the impact of neurochemistry on mental health. Critical Evaluation: Training students to "think like a psychologist" by evaluating the validity and reliability of famous studies, from Milgram’s obedience to Loftus’s eyewitness testimony. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a subject specialist who can translate abstract theories into fascinating classroom discussions. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS and a strong honours degree in Psychology or a related Social Science. Specialist Knowledge: A deep understanding of the current A-Level specifications and the ability to teach the "Issues and Debates" component with nuance. Analytical Approach: The ability to support students in mastering the mathematical requirements of the Research Methods module (e.g., descriptive and inferential statistics).
