Clinical Trials Assistant
We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and self‑motivated individual to provide administrative and data management support for research activities in the Clinical Teams.
Responsibilities
* Locate and receive patient notes; manage downloading of patient data from Trust electronic systems for monitor visits and audits.
* Maintain documentation within patient medical records such as information sheets and consent forms, ensuring they are recorded and stored according to Trust policy.
* Update trial databases, including the local management system EDGE, with details of patients.
* Ensure that clinically required tests are conducted per trial protocol and extract data from Trust reporting systems.
* Arrange pathological sample shipment and electronic data to be sent for central review as required by protocol.
* Communicate effectively with sponsor and non‑Trust staff to ensure smooth running of clinical trial data collection.
* Serve as first telephone contact for inquiries from staff, patients, and carers, providing responses within knowledge scope and escalating when necessary.
* Plan and organise meetings and events to agreed timescales, and attend relevant meetings to undertake duties effectively.
* Keep contact with local and national organisations to stay up to date with relevant trials and maintain knowledge of ICH/GCP, Research Governance Standards, and EU directive on GCP.
* Utilise all relevant ICT systems—both Trust and external—to input and report information accurately and timely.
Qualifications
* Good level of written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
* Ability to manage own workload effectively with minimal supervision.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and NHS computer systems is desirable but not essential.
