This role will support the definition and development of solution requirements and designs across a number of bids and projects/products delivering various training and simulation solutions.
Key Interactions
The job-holder will work closely with all members of the Bid/Product/Project engineering team, especially the SEM, PDA and Solution Architect, potentially interfacing with the customer and end user communities.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Write and decompose system requirements and define the best method for verification.
2. Troubleshoot the system design and provide suggestions or solutions
3. Develop conceptual designs and models
4. Define and manage interfaces between solution elements
5. Perform scientific analysis and predictive modelling to measure design outcomes
6. Write technical responses for customers
7. Break down complex problems into smaller portions for simplicity and analysis
8. Influence and reach consensus with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
9. Create, manage and control design documentation (ICDs, TRSs, SSDD) as well as associated solution baselines.
10. Support software, procurement, operations and sub-contractors in ensuring the design and development of solution elements meets the needs of the solution.
Essential Skills & Experience:
11. Experience in engineering on complex systems and solutions.
12. A proven track record of success in defining technical solutions and delivering technical proposals for complex systems within typical bid constraints (limited time, budget, resource etc.).
13. Ability to analyse customer requirements and identify technical issues and risks as well as mitigation activities.
14. Able to capture and express solutions/designs through a model based engineering approach.
15. Clear understanding of (and experience in) system engineering processes including functional baseline management (i.e. Specification writing, requirements analysis/management, system level design, functional partitioning/allocation, interface design/control).
16. An effective team player who has good verbal communication skills, report writing skills, and presentation skills.
17. Strong organisational and team working skills.
18. Use of DOORS, JIRA
Desirable Skills & Experience:
19. Training and/or Simulation domain knowledge and experience.
20. Excellent customer relationship skills.
21. Experience of using Modelling Tools e.g. Capella, Enterprise Architect
Essential Qualifications:
22. Bachelor degree in Engineering or computer science
Special Requirements:
23. Ability to travel in the UK, and internationally, in support of bids and demonstrations.

It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment.
