The Opportunity
Amey Consulting specializes in engineering and infrastructure solutions across aviation, transport, and public services. Our Airport Infrastructure Team plays a crucial role in designing and maintaining aviation assets to ensure efficient and sustainable airport operations. We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our team, with shared office locations in Edinburgh and Glasgow. We welcome applicants from across Scotland.

The Role
As a Civil Engineer, you will support our Pavement and Asset Management Practice team in delivering schemes for clients, including pavement condition assessments and renewal schemes, ensuring safety and durability. You will design and develop airfield infrastructure, including pavements, runways, taxiways, airport stands, and associated servicing infrastructure (drainage, AGL, HV electrical systems, communications, fuel, and fire mains).
* Assess, design, and rehabilitate airport pavements using DMG27 and BAA methods.
* Develop airport layout designs considering operational, safety, environmental, and capacity requirements.
* Ensure designs comply with aviation regulations like EASA CS-ADR-DSN, CAP 168, ICAO Annex 14.
* Support sustainable solutions for airport facilities, including carbon reduction and energy efficiency.
* Engage with stakeholders, clients, and contractors to deliver projects successfully.
* Manage projects from feasibility to construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce technically sound engineering solutions, supervise junior staff, and ensure compliance with standards.
* Prepare and review designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation.
* Assist in technical aspects from project initiation to completion, including survey data review.
* Prepare technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
* Promote health and safety practices.
* Communicate with clients and suppliers, attend meetings, and respond to queries.
Qualifications and Skills
* BSc in Civil or Aeronautical Engineering or related field.
* Experience in airport infrastructure design and airfield planning.
* Knowledge of aviation regulations and standards.
* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and supervise others.
* Proficiency with AutoCAD and relevant analytical tools.
* Understanding of CDM regulations.
* Working towards Chartered Engineer status (e.g., ICE).
