We are recruiting for a Financial Manager / Financial Controller to join a growing SME operating within a project-led environment. The business works across specialist projects and requires someone who understands the financial complexities that come with this type of operation, ideally within the construction sector.This is a key role within the business, working closely with Directors and reporting into a wider European group. You will take ownership of the finance function, supporting both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic decision making.The role will involve full responsibility for the finance function, including transactional finance, reporting, compliance, and supporting wider business operations such as HR and commercial activityKey Responsibilities:Overseeing sales and purchase ledger, including invoicing and credit controlPreparing and processing supplier paymentsProducing monthly management accounts and reportsBudgeting and forecastingYear-end accounts preparationManaging expenses and company credit cardsSubmitting VAT and CIS returnsActing as the main contact for audit, banking, insurance, legal and HMRCSupporting payroll and HR-related processesWorking closely with Directors on strategy and decision makingSkills RequiredStrong background in financial management within an SME environmentExperience producing management accounts, KPIs, and financial reportingAbility to manage multiple areas of finance, from transactional to strategicStrong attention to detail and accuracyConfident communicating with stakeholders at all levelsExperience working within project-based or construction environments (highly desirable)Ability to review and support commercial contracts and negotiationsExperience implementing or improving financial systems and processesQualifications RequiredQualified or part-qualified (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) preferredStrong experience with financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics NAV, Sage and payroll systemsExperience with VAT returns, corporation tax, and tax planningKnowledge of CIS tax returns (essential for construction environments)Experience managing payroll and supporting HR processesTPBN1_UKTJ
