Job Description:
SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an Acquisition Search Director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specialises in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other businesses engage our client to conduct a bespoke acquisition search, uncovering target businesses within specific criteria and facilitating the approach to these businesses. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management in the following areas:
* Agree the scope of the acquisition search with clients at the board level.
* Liaise with the research team to identify businesses within the client’s search criteria. The research will be conducted by an in-house team.
* Approach major shareholders of target businesses and hold detailed, highly commercial conversations via video calls to discuss their business models, track records, growth trajectories, financials, and owners’ aspirations regarding selling their businesses.
* Discuss each potential target with the client and facilitate meetings with selected businesses.
* Manage the acquisition process relationship thereafter, requiring strong commercial acumen but not financial qualifications.
Applicants should be able to quickly understand various business models. Experience operating at the board level is important, as this role involves managing relationships with owners and CEOs, often from large corporates, private equity, or private equity-backed businesses.
Candidates from a range of commercial backgrounds will be considered, including those who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary and an attractive, transparent bonus structure, paid multiple times a year based on deal activity. The bonus is uncapped, with potential earnings of 100% of salary or more in a good year.
