Job Title: Consultant Oncologist – AOS/CUP
Start Date: June 2026
Contract Type: Permanent
Post Availability: 10.25 PA (part‑time or job share applicants will be considered)
Responsibilities
* Lead the Acute Oncology Service
* Provide senior oversight and support to the Acute Oncology Team
* Participate in Acute Oncology Service development across Cancer Care
* Provide specialist medical oncology input, particularly in chemotherapy and immunotherapy for CUP patients
* Treat patients with CUP at UHS
* Provide oncology input to the UHS CUP MDT
* Provide consultant level support to the Acute Oncology and MUO/CUP services, including SDEC
* Attend Acute Oncology MDTs and Board Rounds
* Manage Acute Oncology and MUO/CUP patients, including triage of patient referrals
* Advise on appropriate diagnostic tests in the MUO/CUP setting
* Plan and supervise chemo/immunotherapy
* Conduct on-treatment review clinics
* Engage in peer review meetings
* Participate in the recruitment and running of clinical trials
* Attend CUP/MUO MDT meetings and act as a member
Qualifications & Experience
* Consultant level clinical experience in medical oncology
* Demonstrated interest and experience in Acute Oncology and CUP/MUO
* Experience delivering chemotherapy and immunotherapy protocols
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to manage a complex patient caseload and contribute to multidisciplinary teams
* Capacity to work flexible hours as required for acute services
