Research Assistant/Associate in Computational Biology/Immunology (Fixed Term)

2 days ago – Be among the first 25 applicants. Fixed‑term: The post is available for two years in the first instance starting 20 January 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter and subject to a 6‑month probationary period.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to join Prof Christina Zielinski’s group to work in the field of human systems immunology. Using multi‑modal single‑cell data sets from unique patient cohorts and high‑dimensional flow cytometry, the candidate of the ERC‑funded project ORGANise‑T will investigate the rules that govern the body‑wide compartmentalization of human T cell immunity, its function and regulation at the single‑cell level in health and disease with computational methods. Overall, the project’s goal is to establish first‑of‑its‑kind insights into the spatio‑temporal dynamic organisation of human T cell immunity in tissues, which will bring the next generation of immunotherapies to the level of tissue specificity.

Responsibilities

* Perform computational analyses of multi‑modal single‑cell data sets and high‑dimensional flow cytometry.
* Generate bioinformatic data sets experimentally and integrate them with computational results.
* Develop and drive research objectives, including strategy, analysis plans and experimental design.
* Write up work for presentation and publication, including drafts of manuscripts and conference abstracts.
* Collaborate with team members and contribute to the dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment.
* Demonstrate independent work and strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications

* Postdoctoral scientist in human systems immunology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Computational experience and/or background as a computational biologist/bioinformatician.
* Aptitude for semi‑independent work and team collaboration.
* Appointment at the Research Associate level is dependent on award of a PhD; those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD will be appointed at the Research Assistant level, Grade 5 (33,002–35,608), which will be amended to Research Associate, Grade 7 (37,694–46,049) once the PhD is confirmed.

Application Requirements

* Upload a Curriculum Vitae (CV), a motivation letter detailing project and career development plans, and a publications list.
* Provide contact details, including an email address of two referees (at least one familiar with your work in your primary research field).
* Applications that upload any additional documents not requested will not be considered.
* Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.

Additional Information

We particularly welcome applications from women and /or candidates from a BME background for this vacancy as they are currently under‑represented at this level in our Department.
