About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Teacher to join our team at a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who is passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to learning and helping them achieve positive outcomes through high-quality English teaching.
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated English lessons that support both academic progress and the development of confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will help create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment for students with complex SEMH needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the individual needs of SEMH students.
Adapt teaching strategies to support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges.
Monitor, assess, and track student progress in line with school policies.
Build positive and trusting relationships with students to support engagement and learning.
Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
Contribute to behaviour support strategies and the wider pastoral approach of the school.Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
Previous experience working in an SEMH school or with students with significant SEMH needs.
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
A flexible, patient, and empathetic approach to teaching.
