Job Summary
Place Based Medicines Optimisation (MO) Pharmacist role within NHS Greater Manchester. The role is based in Tameside Locality and reports to the Chief Pharmacist and CCPL. It focuses on embedding evidence‑based, high quality, safe and cost‑effective medicines and medical devices across the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Partnership.
Responsibilities
* Liaise with teams across the function and support the development of medicines optimisation plans to ensure safe and effective services are offered to patients.
* Deliver the medicines optimisation plan to GP practices within the cluster, ensuring safe and effective prescribing service.
* Build strong relationships with GP practices and other prescribers to facilitate delivery of prescribing priorities.
* Provide pharmaceutical expertise to promote and embed evidence‑based, safe and cost‑effective prescribing to improve patient outcomes and maintain a financial sustainable system.
* Support prescribers to manage their prescribing within the prescribing budget and support Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians on joint projects and initiatives.
* Participate in relevant internal and external working groups, projects, services and initiatives to provide information and analytical advice.
* Support the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the team and wider medicines optimisation function.
Person Specification
Essential
* Pharmacist Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and current UK professional registration.
* Knowledge of prescribing/primary care data including ePACT and GP practice systems.
* Excellent understanding of medicines optimisation.
* Ability to influence change.
* Experience providing expert pharmaceutical advice and communicating complex information to prescribers and patients.
Desirable
* Non‑medical Prescribing Qualification.
* Completion of the CPPE Primary Care Pathway Course (PCPEP).
