Our OEM Client based in Leamington is searching for a Test Engineer to join their team, Inside IR35. This is a 12-month contract position initially until 31st March 2026, with the potential for further extensions.
Umbrella Pay Rate: £21.75 per hour.
Duties
This role is key to enabling the laboratory and supports the Lead Engineer for the ongoing operation of the current and future Internal Combustion & Emissions laboratory capability. You will engage directly with our client's university academia and third-party engineering teams, supporting the delivery of engine testing within new test cells.
Your main responsibility will be to support the supervised operations of test cells, including preparing test samples, installing instrumentation, and collaborating with laboratory customers. This is a hands-on role that offers a unique opportunity to build a team working on a university campus.
You will be involved with the operation of two Multi Cycle Engine Test Dyno facilities and support other facilities as needed. The role starts on a day shift pattern, transitioning to double shifts within two months as you gain system familiarity.
Skills
* Preparation of units under test, understanding internal combustion systems (spark and compression ignition)
* Fabrication, welding, and basic machining skills are advantageous
* Understanding of instrumentation installation (thermocouples, pressure transducers, etc.)
* Engine inspection, disassembly, and assembly skills
* Support in operating and maintaining test facilities following H&S and ISO standards
* Ability to transfer knowledge and train new team members
* Perform user maintenance and liaise with equipment suppliers
Education
* City & Guilds Level 3 in a related discipline or a fully time-served apprenticeship
* Relevant experience will support your application
