We are seeking a herdsperson to take over the management and day to day running of our high yielding Holstein Friesian dairy herd. The herd currently sits at 400 cows, with two people milking through a 19/38 herringbone parlour. We home breed all of our followers. We have recently completed new facilities for young stock rearing and included additional capacity for 300 cows. With this in mind we will be updating our current parlour and continuing infrastructure improvements across the farm. We are in the process of transitioning to an Autumn block calving herd. We feel that this will provide us with a more sustainable work/life balance throughout the year, whilst not impacting performance of the cows.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
* Have an enthusiastic and positive approach
* Be both qualified and experienced to carry out all tasks associated with a high performing dairy herd
* Ensure the highest welfare standards are in place.
* Have the interest and ability to ensure the dairy enterprise performs to the highest supermarket standards.
* Be a good communicator and have relevant current knowledge of farm recording systems.
* Be able to work independently as well as part of a team with a flexible approach to work.
* Be able to maintain current standards as we transition into the new dairy setup.
* Hold a full clean driving license and associated industry qualifications.
Although accommodation is not currently available on farm, salary is highly competitive (up to £46,000 with bonuses).
